Spending your money wisely, or in a way that brings you the most benefit over the course of your life, is a super tricky thing to do.
There are endless things to consider–your values, your preferences, your goals, wants vs needs, short-term vs long, how much money you make now, how much you’ll make in the future, how much time you have, where you’re at in life. The list goes on and on.
It’s easy to make mistakes and it’s hard to set general rules. Perhaps the best we can do is share our own experiences.
One thing that really sticks out for me is wishing I had spent money more intentionally when I was younger.
And I don’t even mean wishing I had saved more (which might’ve been an okay call too).
Mostly, I wish my friends and I had gone out to the bar even just slightly less frequently, and instead set that money aside to plan a few crazy cool trips and make longer lasting memories together.
It’s easy to look back and regret how you spent your money. I don’t think it’s super useful to dwell there or pass too much judgement.
But it’s worth reflecting on once in a while to learn how to spend more wisely moving forward.
Do you have any big money regrets? How do you plan to spend more wisely in the future?
