One of the best ways to spend your resources is to invest some of them into making more.
So you spend some energy exercising or walking in nature because they give you energy. You get more back than you put in and create a virtuous cycle. They’re positive-sum activities.
The same thing happens with creativity. If you spend time playing guitar or writing song lyrics or painting, over time, you don’t slowly run out of ideas. In fact, the opposite happens. You become more and more creative. Your creativity muscle grows stronger and the options become endless.
The same thing is true of working with someone like me to improve your finances. You do pay an annual fee, but the whole point is for you to get far more back in return.
Where does that money come from?
1. Adopting a long-term mindset and rules-based approach to investing.
2. Good tax planning leading you to give less of your money to the government.
3. Setting up your bank accounts to pay fewer fees and earn more interest.
4. Planning your big life purchases and being strategic about how you fund them, so you pay less to companies, reduce your expenses, and minimize your total cost of ownership.
5. Saving at a higher rate by using behavioural tools and some added accountability from me.
6. Generally being more mindful and less wasteful with your spending.
If you want to be more energetic, you need to invest some of your energy into activities that give you energy.
If you want to be more creative, you need to use the creativity you already have and have faith that more ideas will come.
And if you want to grow your wealth and reach your financial goals, you need to invest some of your money into putting together a plan and collaborating with a professional like me who can help you make the most of your money.
You should get back far more than you put in. That’s the whole point.
